Title: Re: Is there a market for gingerbread houses?

First of all... BEAUTIFUL work!  Your details are incredible!

Oh how I wish there was a bigger market for custom gingerbread houses or displays!

I've often wondered if there was a market working with high-end realtors, if there would be interest for them to buy a gingerbread house that is created based on their buyers recently purchased house, or perhaps a small "token" type house as a thank-you to recent buyers... but then this is also geared towards a seasonal purchase, unless one could start the marketing/pre-sales early, and then bake like a mad-man during the season.   ;D

Just thinking out-loud... maybe these ideas help?  ::)

LOVE making gingerbread houses and other items made of gingerbread, but having trouble finding a market for them. I'd love it if my baking hobby could pay for itself, or even make a profit, but I can't see to find the market. I'd sell even as craft item if I couldn't sell as fully edible item.

is the season just too short?

Researching, all I can find is bakeries or other cake businesses selling them at Christmas. Either that, or contests or other media promotional events/uses or corporate displays.

Is there a market for retail sales to the 'general population' or are they really considered only show pieces or hobby creations?

I've attached the last house I made.
