Description: Full view of the entire rear of the structure. Here the structure, as a book, is fully revealed. I built the spine of the book by draping the gingerbread over the core of a papertowel roll, cut in half and covered with foil. I added the welts to the spine with very thin strips of gingerbread added before baking. The spine was added to the 'covers' of the book with gingerbread colored royal frosting, so the seams weren't as visible. Overall, this view of the structure shows my weaknesses as a first time gingerbread builder. You can see dimples in the gingerbread caused by cooling the bread initially on my cookie cooling rack. I also should have been more ornate on decorating this side of the structure. The judging penalized me on lack of 'Christmas spirit', use of color, and use of candy. Additionally, it was commented that it 'wasn't a house'. Onward and upward! 2017 Gingerbread Village is approaching and this year they'll get a house...but with my usual unusual take on it! And Santa will make an appearance again! Stats: Views: 289 Total Favorities: 0 View Who Favorited Posted by: CWalton ![]() Total Likes: 0
