| Description: 2013 Ultimate Gingerbread Holiday Gingerbread Contest - Entrant Mansion Gingerbread House - Made by a 13 year old and her mother for there first time making one out of scratch and decorating one. 2013. We were thinking that this was Santa and Mrs. Clause's house, and that the reindeer got away and decided to stay on there roof. The roof is made of the chocolate candy melts and the chimney is made with a piece of candy ribbon sticking out of it like fire. The house we sprayed it with edible food coloring so that it had some other color to it. We used candy ribbon for the fence. We used coconut for snow. We made trees with ice cream cones and royal icing. We put white chocolate covered pretzels in the corners of the house. We used candy canes to help hold up the pitches of the roofs. and for the cover over there door. We used royal icing candy canes in the windows and for the lights hanging from the roofs. We used royal icing snowman all over the area and we put Santa and Mrs. Clause in front of there house. We used royal icing all over. This was the first time we had ever even tried to do this and baking it from scratch on our own (not a pre-baked or prepackaged one) I think we did really good for our first time.
