Glad you enjoyed my web site. The turkey came from the book, "The Gingerbread Book," edited by Allen D. Bragdon, ISBN 0-916410-08-0, Published by Allen D. Bragdon Publishers, Inc., 153 West 82nd Street, New York, N.Y. 10024, Copyright 1984. I have scanned the pattern pages from the book for you. I found the patterns to be small. I increased their size by 33% and that size was perfect for the project.
I did make changes to the pattern. Instead of a square body, I made a round body by using an oven safe soup bowl. I prepared the bowl by wrapping it in aluminum foil, then I placed the bowl in the freezer for about 2 hours. I prepared the gingerbread--rolling it out large enough to completely cover the bowl. I removed the bowl from the freezer and sprayed it with Baker's Joy and placed the gingerbread on the bowl--cutting off the excess from the bottom. Depending on the size of the bowl you use, your bowl might be large enough to make two bodies. If it does, score the gingerbread in half and on each side, score a line for the neck. Return the bowl with the gingerbread back into the freezer for about 30 minutes. Then immediately place into the oven and cook for the appropriate amount of time. By freezing the bowl and the gingerbread, the gingerbread will bake without dripping off the bowl. When you remove the gingerbread from the oven, immediately cut along the score lines to separate the two halves and cut a large enough opening to fit the neck. When the gingerbread is cold, remove the gingerbread from the bowl by removing the aluminum foil then gently removing the aluminum foil from the gingerbread. The cut opening will be attached to the tail. This gives enough area to secure and support the tail.
I used the remaining pattern pieces. The turkey is a great project. You will enjoy it.
THIS IS HER SCAN NOT MINE...BUT I MADE IT INTO 2 PAGES and put it into PDF for you.
