Good Housekeeping Gingerbread Patterns
« on: September 28, 2014, 08:59:35 pm »
Many years ago Good Housekeeping magazine published a pattern for a Main Street. Does anyone have that pattern. I made it when my daughter who is about to turn 23 was a baby, and I never took pictures. I would like to make  it again, but cant remember how I did it. I remember the corner store had a curved front.

I have about 20 years of these magazines with the gingerbread patterns in them. If you give me the year it was in maybe I can help.

My daughter was born in 1991 so it would be around there, possibly earlier. It may have been the same year as the Victorian house with the turret.

I looked but I'm not finding an issue with that type of building in it. Are you sure it wasn't Loretta's adaption of it that she had a pattern for on the old site called town village. Here is a photo of the village I made from it. Is this it?

I'll keep looking but this is the only pattern I have ever seen or done that had a rounded store on the end...lol

Oh sure, no problem. I did find the issue...it's dec. 1986 and it was just a winner named teresa warren that made the village for a contest...there was never a pattern for it published, or so the magazine article says, but your pattern is the spitting image of it and i'm sure that's what she is looking for...lol

I get confused all the time...I see a photo or a pattern and then later can't remember what or where from...age is setting in...he he he

I found the (to-scale) pattern for the Town Village and will upload in a few minutes.  Click "Downloads" from the menu bar above.  I'd love to see pictures when finished!

And thanks GingerArt for offering to scan and upload.  I believe the pattern in the magazine would need to be enlarged, etc... so I just uploaded the pattern I had, that I already made to-scale way-back-when. :)

Just wondering, what other Good Housekeeping patterns are floating around?  I would love to see some of what was offered.  I love the magazine.  I wish they still featured gingerbread houses!
