Gingerbread Frosting
« on: November 13, 2016, 11:08:37 am »
I needed to join two pieces of gingerbread and didn't want the joint to show.  I played around with food color and was having trouble getting the color to match the gingerbread.  About two in the morning (when I get my ideas, unfortunately!) it occurred to me that what gave gingerbread it's color were the spices.  This morning I mixed cinnamon and ginger into royal frosting and it didn't take long to get the color perfect!  The spices thicken the frosting, so thin it a bit.
